Our toddler room accommodates 10 children aged from 18 months to 3 years. This room is arranged to allow the children to explore freely using their imagination and independence, the large area has space for both quiet activities as well as more messy and energetic play giving the children ample opportunities to explore and experiment with the activities, equipment and resources on offer.

Four key members of staff play a valuable role in ensuring consistency for the children and meeting their individual needs through well planned experiences

In this room activities are provided to ensure that not only each child’s needs are met but that each child’s interests are encouraged and used to promote their development. This also ensures that each child gets the best out of their nursery experience both indoors and outside.

Activities are planned to ensure that the children are achieving realistic targets according to the EYFS Framework. Information regarding this can be found in your child’s personal record of achievements that grows as your child progresses through the nursery and makes a lovely keepsake for when they move onto school.

Outdoor Provision

Here at Poppies Child Care we have a large secure outdoor play area which includes a grassed area with large sunken tyre, painting area, large construction, messy kitchen, sand and water play. Alongside the lawn there is a large climbing apparatus with safety surfaces and soft pore area with ride on toys.

Our outdoor area also provides two separate under cover spaces enabling outdoor learning during rainy days.

Different equipment is available outdoors each day from our range of activity boxes so that children can access all areas of development and learning outdoors as well as indoors. Children are encouraged to use a range of equipment to promote their physical skills including wheeled toys, climbing equipment, bats and balls, bean bags and hoops. For those children who prefer a bit of quiet time or their own space, we have cosy areas with cushions and books to allow children to chill out and relax.
